I think the Lamy thing is just mob mentality, that and seeing who can make the tiniest watercolour palette out of mint tins
I think I like the Lamy's more for writing than drawing...I'm not sure what it is about them, and they work well with the Octopus Ink so far!
...same thing with brush pens. All anyone talks about is Kuretake, but I prefer another brand. I would stick with whichever pen clicks best with you.
Preppy is a good choice if you decide to try Platinum - I think the steel nibs are pretty much the same throughout the various models. No flex to them whatesoever, but work well with carbon ink.
