In the first world, it's easy to overlook how valuable money actually is. That 1st edition Charizard can feed a family of 4. The bills add up. $55/mo for cellphone service doesn't seem so bad to us (Americans), because mobile internet is essential to life. But it's actually an absurd fee with way better alternatives. There are plenty of examples. People spend so much on subscriptions. $10 here, $10 there. It's easy to justify each one by itself, but it adds up. Not only does it slowly kill you, it's wasted potential. It's less invested in people.

After seeing the true potential of small amounts of money, it has recontextualized how I view all purchases. I've started to adopt a much more disciplined mindset about money, similar to how I view veganism.
