So I had some problems recently with my home #Linux server that I run VM's and containers on. Server stopped working. Disk I/O errors on the console for the first hard drive. I was preparing the have to go buy a replacement for one of the years old spinning hard drive in this thing. I ran all the usual Linux tools to check the health of the drive, and most seem to indicate the drive was OK. But using smartctl to run a quick test would never finish, stopped with 10% left. Hmm. 1/2
