🤔 if one thing is like another, sharing in quality, then in some sense it really is that thing.
This recognition is why the beginning of Christianity is also the beginning of science, where this previously only philosophical recognition moved into the consciousness of society at large, and this shift became the bedrock of a thousand doctrines that parsed out the components of the thing, whatever the thing may be. To die on the cross, whatever the conscious assertion of meaning, has a symbolic meaning recognized by the subconscious. For Christ to be both man and God, however rationalized by church creeds, is symbolic of the likeness of quality between man and divinity - and indeed, we've come full circle on the meaning of the word, Christ, for it was a word and and act long before it became a man. What components of the man were God, or to what degree was the man God, or visa versa, was a hotly debated topic for the early church - by which I mean, the corpus of consciousness awakened by Christ, not the organization pretending to the name. In debating the constituent divinity in both man and God, they adumbrated the constituent materiality of the world. And again, a full circle has been completed, a circumambulation of meaning, as the cross itself can be seen to represent the dimensionality of the phenomenal world and the descent of the eternal and sublime into the crudeness of materiality and death - the vertical axis as divinity and the horizontal for the world, united in one symbol, both man and God.
And so, science was born.
