A long-duration heat waves will bring very hot and dry conditions to Southwestern California through the weekend. The hot and dry conditions will coincide with northwesterly winds, gusting 25 to 40 mph, Thursday evening through Friday night across the Interstate 5 Corridor as well as southern Santa Barbara county. This combination will bring the potential for widespread critical fire weather conditions to these areas Thursday evening through Friday night.
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Thursday evening through late Friday night.
* WINDS...Northwest to north winds gusting 25 to 40 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum relative humidity 8-20 percent with poor to moderate overnight recovery.
* IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid rates of fire growth and spread.
