My window air conditioner is now part of a squirrel highway. From a tree over my house, to my roof, to the a/c, to the ground.
Because of their speed, maneuverability, and squeaky trash talk when displeased, I thought of squirrels as being made of air, fur, and attitude. Based on the loud, solid, thumps the squirrels are making when landing on my window a/c, I now think of squirrels as being made of rocks, tempered steel, and little regard for their well being. Because it usually sounds like they fell on the a/c, hard, rather than making a controlled landing.
The squirrels aren't injured by their less than graceful aerobatics. They scramble for purchase on the a/c, respond to my fussing to stay off of the a/c with vocalizations that are likely very cutting squirrel-based insults, and go on about their business.
