I write post-apocalyptic--heck, I write full-on post-extermination, but dang it, people still try to make the world better. Because why else would you read a book???
Heck, I have a horrid post-apoc in my brain that I will only write if my wife predeceases me. Because I must be in a horrid headspace for a prolonged time to write it. And it's got a twisted sort of hope. (For the record, I hope I never write it.)
The full-on we-are-doomed crowd, I just don't get. Who wants to spend time reading that, let alone far longer WRITING it?
