I think the point they are making is that the fact they didn’t free the slaves right away is swept under the rug. Most history school text books only include a paragraph and leave out facts. While there had been some improvement on this the 1776 report is trying to go backwards. This is wrong in my opinion. History is important. The 1619 project scares those who don’t want these facts to be known is the project perfect? No, but Is it wrong? Also no. I don’t think there’s a way to defend the 1776 report. It quote mines those who criticized America not living up to the priciples laid out in the declaration. It also lies about history to justify the gutting of history. This should be disturbing to anyone with a basic understanding of history who have read it.
