Guy Swan mentioned on a few Bitcoin Audible podcasts about his space heating miners. Said it's about twice as expensive as natural gas but he makes back in bitcoin the difference and a little bit more so it's actually net less expensive than just buying gas. He is pool mining though, not lottery mining. For heat, pool mining makes more sense to offset the extra cost over gas or an electric heating element.
