So kitty.social has 6x the character limit of mastodon.social. How much of my unrealistic(?) dream OS can I describe?
- bytecode VM (for portability)
- can run on underpowered hardware (even a microcontroller?)
- can run atop another OS using bytecode VM
- everything is lightweight and runs alright (or, on modern hardware, REALLY FAST)
- privilege-based permissions system
- an app can run another app and give it access to functions (this is how the GUI will work - the desktop runs an app and gives it access to window-related functions) (wait, are all GUI programs technically plugins then?)
- custom permissions related to cross-app lib usage??
- Unicode compatibility
- font compatibility (Atkinson Hyperlegible my beloved)
- all apps use the same GUI lib (the native one), will accidentally respect theming
- looks like win98 by default
- screenreader
- AsciiDoc-based text format that most of the OS uses (like DolDoc, but not monospace)
- word processor that writes in the custom text format
- media player
- web browser (Gemini, Gopher, and a new third protocol using the custom text format. NO HTML, too complex)
- social media client (fediverse, bsky, and maybe others)
- chat client (matrix, irc, xmpp, and maybe others)
- TempleOS compatibility layer (yes I'm serious)
- comes with weirdcore desktop backgrounds
- scrolling WM (like Niri)
- floating windows are also possible

- default accent color is orange/yellow
- default theme reduces blue light by being fairly warm
