another huge war 40 y ago comes to my mind: Iraq vs Iran, half million died each on both sides only military lives. But it ran over 8 years and it was fanatic and lethal. All these big wars after 1945 don't even reach Putins blood thurst in only 1 1/2 year. And I only talk about his own people ! Ukrains victims I didnot mention because Putin needs this war for keeping russia under pressure. He must be in a panic state like an injured animal.
