I've bought through both online dealers and coin shops. Sometimes the coin shops are a rip off and sometimes they have similar premiums to the online stores. Typically you should expect to pay a buck or two over spot, but sometimes the online shops offer special deals. SDBullion tends to offer them fairly regularly, so I'd keep an eye out there.
