The tiny, brown-and-white sand martin is a common summer visitor to the UK, nesting in colonies on rivers, lakes and flooded gravel pits. It returns to Africa in winter. [Info from the Wildlife Trust to which I am a member, and my location today (Pitsford Water) is one of the Wildlife Trusts nature reserves.

They are a great organisation.
