One of my favorite hobbies is conducting genealogy research and as someone who is descended from slaves, I've had to turn to 23andme to fill in some holes and one of the most gut-wrenching moments that I had was seeing that I was related to a family that is clustered around the DMV area and not being able to figure out that in related to this family, until i realized one of my ancestors were more than likely sold away at some point.
