From JWST comes this stunning image of star cluster NGC 602, located at the edge of Small Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy ~200,000 light-years away.
The star cluster is surrounded by "pillars" and "elephant trunks", regions of new star formation, carved out from gas and dust by radiation from the central stars. Many distant galaxies grace the spacescape.
The image, taken in near infrared wavelengths using NIRCam and MIRI, is ~157 light-years across.
