I actually expored train 🚋 + kickbike :kickbike: (traditional, non-electric) as pretty interesting multimodal transport option.

Kickbikes are sort of forgotten and cheaper precursor of bikes. The have advantages for people who do not tolerate sitting on bicycle saddle. But the ale contain less parts, are pretty lightweight (no chain or pedals), are actually very comfortable and easy to ride at pedestrian-compatible speeds (up to cca 10 km/h) and most importantly - the are very lightweight, which makes them much easier than bike to carry over stairs or lift into train from low platforms.

They can be compared to much safer and controllable (brakes...) pre-cursors of skateboards and longboards. But the are also faster then skateboards (except downhill), because wheels are large enough to reduce friction. Also, they are more comfortable than skateboards because of standard air-filled tyres.

Electric kickbikes ("scooters") sort of miss the main advantages of traditional kickbikes: low weight, low friction and simplicity, which means very few repairable, replacable or even adjustable parts. But while riding bike in urban enviroment is somehow socially acceptable (more or less), riding kickbike feels somehow "badass" (but really not sure why). Kickbikes have similar status to what bicycles have in Turkey: either toys for children or sporting gear, but nothing in between. Also, it is not even considered adult sport outside Czech Republic and Finland (and perhaps Netherlands, but I am not sure)
