Pokey runs several tricks to try to stay alive most of the time. While it's up, notifications are instants thanks to the WS connection to the rekay. This works in most of the cases, but Android has always some privileges to go down down with everything (Battery saver mode and so on), that Google services just bypass by brute force.
My impression is what Pokey does is the closer we can get to Google services. I dont know if ntfy uses WS for notifications, if not, that keeps it one step behind.
