What bugged me most about the depictions of the death star were the inconsistent application of gravity.

Yes, we concede there is artificial gravity. But from the attack runs of the ships it seems to have planet-like gravity from the center of mass. The interior should have onion-like layers/floors.

Then inside it, all the floors seem at a right angle to the vertical axis (and not curved at all).

It distracts me every time.
