I was a big fan of AirBnb when it started. I still like the concept but it’s clearly hurting society in enormous, unintended ways. We need more housing period, but especially more affordable housing. Plus we need to rethink hotels.

Investors have bought up all the housing and effectively lowered the value of hotels while destroying the rental market. Why rent a 2BR apartment for $1500/month to a family when you can make five times that on Airbnb?

This is WHY government exists.
