It seems like historically, investing was better than saving because saving (in fiat) was a loser's game. Investing was sought out to try and stay ahead of inflation, at least when retirement was the goal. And it was such a constant battle to "beat the street", that it kept us occupied.
The other form of investing, investing for the sake of furthering a business pursuit because it's a good thing that is worthy of our support, I fear is less common. But now that we've got a way to save for retirement without the fear of inflation eroding that savings (btc), my hope is that those of us with the wherewithal to do so will shift to investing of this second sort.
