a formative experience was watching South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut

i passively consumed south park as silly entertainment, but then they introduced the revolutionary Gregory. it impressed me that someone could believe in something enough to fight and die for it. the fact that making him sing like he's trapped in Les Mis and lose to stan in competition over a girl by being *too* politically motivated were the only digs the show creators could manage at someone like that also seemed significant. he seemed more concerned with liberty than with wendy anyway, and he was a hero instrumental in preventing the end of the world, and yet the show creators seemed to dislike him for being a principled freedom fighter that they made up to resolve their own plot like wtf?

so, i started being more discerning with how i watched south park and eventually all media. and i eventually stopped watching south park altogether. they aren't discerning enough with how they employ satire and it encourages a very shallow impression of the world as "just the way it is" with contemptable morons in charge on every side for no particular reason. i knew i could do better than that
