Wherever you see bright red and yellow steaks in the mountains there you are likely to find toxic waste heaps and ponds. Near Leadville there is a town (might just be a spot on the map now) called Climax that has some of the prettiest crazy color toxic pools you will see anywhere, unless they have cleaned that up. Even Telluride has a nice big toxic tailings heap on the east end of town.
