But just from reading the description of him why wouldn't people enjoy a vigilante character that beats the shit out of people who are supposed to be evil?
Shit you could have him being an abusive alcoholic who beats his kids and people would still be mixed on if they think he's a good character, they would at least consider him an anti-hero at the very least and still kind of root for him.
It takes a lot for people to genuinely hate a character.
