It summed up to "we've had the web for a while now and it's long enough to have a good idea of what works and what doesn't, and most people would be better off working within a structure built on known best practices."
Game engines at a level of refinement and use like Godot and the big ones are like that. They can constrain you, but those constraints are based on decades of experience with game development. Being open source lets you break out of those constraints if needed.
