That’s now how markets work. Selling drives down the price. They could have held until now, then sold, and the price would still precipitously drop as they’re selling. The order book isn’t that thick across exchanges. That’s why they can’t do it all at once. They’re hoping more reasonable buy orders show up as time progresses. The more they sell, the less appetite there is to buy at a given price at a specific point in time.
