America doesn't have the monopoly on racism. Some things have become better over time here, others not (and Romani people is one of those for multiple reasons). We are clearly sliding back at the moment (especially here).
Now I would not necessarily judge by social media discourse. First, it exacerbates trends (haters are always louder there) and I also don't feel people active on social media are a representative sample of the populations.
But right now, I'm quite ashamed of where I live.
