NB you can also use these to turn PAL into PAL or similar, but of course if you feed it a non-spec-compliant 240p or 288p signal it'll turn it into spec-compliant 480i or 576i, which will then not display correctly on a CRT anymore but _will_ record correctly on a digital capture device if you grab the individual fields.
That is, these things are exactly what you want in a capture path, but not what you want to hook up an old gaming device or similar to a picky TV/CRT.
