Rather amused by my #eBay purchase. Knew there was a catch, but couldn't imagine what it was, as the eBay descriptions are usually kocher - they run a reasonably tight ship.
"External hard drive 1TB Portable 2.5" USB 3.0 hard drive storage PC Laptop. $20.29 post-free. New in orig packaging. Located in Sydney NSW."
Vendor's detailed description said that inside the new USB case was a 5400 rpm mechanical internal hard drive. If that was old (obsolete) but 'new' it would be fine by me for storage at that price.
When it arrived and was plugged in, it connected as "1.9TB SSD" - wtaf??
Well, write speed abysmal, read speed barely tolerable. No, there's no "hard disk" in there, but some weirdo memory, methinks.
Sure enough...😀
