I get better customer support from the Chinese vendor where I order $1 PCBs than any US company where I spend thousands of bucks.
This is not a "we should be like China" post, but the US culture of "CS should cost as little as possible" is so weird.
Yeah, customers are wrong a lot, even if they're tech-savvy. I called my ISP once when the problem was on my side. But we won't remember that. We'll remember that one time when we really needed to get through to a human because the company messed up - and couldn't.
And that person isn't just going to grumble and move on. They will tell their friends, post online, and so forth. The damage is substantial and hard to measure.
