The problem with the terms “left” and “right” is that it no longer merely refers to where you sit on the political spectrum but instead how you identify culturally.

If you’re “left”, you apparently shop at Whole Foods, own a bicycle, and listen to punk rock.

If you’re “right”, you apparently shop at Wal-Mart, own a pickup truck, and listen to country music.

Thing is, lifestyle isn’t necessarily driven by political concerns.
