Growing up in Laredo, TX in the '60s & '70s, Schlitz may have been the most popular beer in town, especially amongst the Hispanic-half of my family. When ever we would get together for family cookouts, the ice chests were full of Schlitz, with one six-pack of Bud for my "gringo" father. We used to say if we had a nickel for every can of Schlitz and Ranch Style Beans that were opened at the lake on Saturdays we'd never have to work. Very hard to find it down here now.
