Last night at our local independent bookstore in Nyack, NY, we held a table reading of my very silly metafictional one-act comedy “Sherry, Bridge…and Murder!” I served sherry and spotted dick and mince pies, and people bought books from the shop, which keeps it going.
Afterward, friends in the audience came up to congratulate the cast and to say, “Thanks! I really needed this.”
What was “this”?
Community.
Laughter.
Creativity.
Conversation.
And of course, books!
