"mis-mapped" and "misunderstandings" misses that the "open" part of open source was/is intentionally designed with this capability. As far as I can tell, and I am no expert, "open" means it's open to developers to exploit and open-season on everyone else. Built-in exclusivity, the libertarian tech ideal, where the worst aspects of technology are preserved, sharpened, and targeted to harm others for ego, lulz, hatred, and profit. Who benefits from that = who it's for.
