I’m awkward in these situations, as I feel it impossible not to speak up when people’s rights are being infringed: I’ve ‘persuaded’ quite a few store managers to issue refunds to people who are clearly under the protection of the Consumer Rights Act. They tend to look at me with confusion, then annoyance, then resignation. And possibly hate.
But what shocked me was that refusal of service is apparently a civil matter, not criminal. This renders protections useless.
