This is seemingly a (unavoidable?) flaw with NIP-65 in that one won't be able to communicate in response to someone that only has exclusive read relays. Perhaps there can be a client side prompt for the user informing them that the response won't be seen by the op.
There's also the question of if every response on a thread potentially adds another relay that needs to be written to for the subsequent responses.
