A 15-year-old asked me for book recommendations. She says she likes "books with messages, like Fahrenheit 451."

She'd probably like Paulo Coelho's The Alchemist, which both my kids got assigned in high school, but I can't recommend it.

I gave her Peter Beagle's The Last Unicorn for Christmas, because she was reading a fantasy series then, and she loved it "but it was so sad!"

Any suggestions?
