Yeah PaperWM is so fire. Tbh, it removes the need for me to have multiple monitors (it gets tricky to manage windows when you do). I need to play with the touchpad gestures but treating windows as sheets of paper that you can organize on a desk is a great idea.
I'm using it on Debian stable + GNOME
https://github.com/paperwm/PaperWM and it's a breeze. Tbh, this makes up for the lack of an explicit minimize option
