You will now find the irritation of all your photographs (speaker pics, etc) being visibly out of date. (I now wear contact lenses for public speaking, so a picture with glasses is doubly out-dated). But it’s an excuse to find a photographer friend and get some decent pictures done.

I think it’s underestimated how much new glasses change the person. My new ones, replacing a metal pair similar to your old ones, make me feel softer, more vulnerable, more cautious (and younger, as it happens). I like them, but they have definitely changed me.

I struggled with a new pair a few years ago before realising that I need pads, rather than (as mine came with) no pads at all. Not having tried lots of different glasses, I didn’t realise their importance. If you don’t get on with them, that might be a reason.
