Sounds like you had an issue with your machine. I run Chrome which is already a ram heavy browser with youtube playing, discord running, ublock/tampermonkey enabled browsing, and several other tabs simultaneously at 1440p 120hz without a hint of slowdown.

Really confused by your example here. You must have had something choking your system because I've had absolutely no sign of slowdown in SteamOS what-so-ever.
