It's no surprise to people in northern and eastern Europe – not to piggyback off this awfulness but I briefly covered the torture and (gang) rape of women in the Soviet-occupied Baltics too, in chapter one of my book. the evidence, sadly, has to be anecdotal and thus it is not taken particularly seriously as a problem, despite the trauma running deep. I hope one day, societies will start valuing womens' experiences more...",
