I have been thinking a lot lately about why the social experience on Nostr is so much better than on Twitter. Last week I mostly logged in there to publish my npub, and even for such a short time I felt triggered by the content and the peopel.
In first place the absence of an algorithm editing and mediating the experience has a massive impact on the experience. Also the absence of a max string length to the notes improves expressiveness and avoids misunderstandings and people nuking others just because of absence of context to make sense of what people says. But it’s not only the tec spec… we’re all bitcoiners basically in here, this means that there is enough “social cohesion” to lubricate interactions and avoid useless friction.
How long will it stay like this? I honestly don’t know, and I fear that mass adoption might spoil this situation. But on the other hand, mass adoption it’s very good news for the world. I strongly believe that once Twitter won’t be in the picture anymore, the world will be a better place.
