My dog Oscar seemed ill Sunday, wife wanted to take him to the emergency vet. But we both dreaded the prospect because that vet/animal hospital is just playing the role of being a vet — insisting on tests and paperwork and keeping him there overnight — but they don’t *do* shit.
Our actual vet observes him, hears what we say and starts treating him immediately — though she’s not around on weekends and usually swamped for good reason.
It’s night and day the difference between real vets and people in lab coats larping.
I think it’s this way too for real doctors, though I’ve lost respect for most. You’re either assigned to someone playing the “role” or you know someone who’s actually giving attention to people and helping them get to the bottom of it.
Incidentally, Oscar was fine, probably just a bit dehydrated.
