Whenever I hear the endlessly repeated mantra "safe and effective, safe and effective, BAWK pretty bird, safe and effective," I am forcibly reminded of Captain Marco's lines from _The Manchurian Candidate_: Marco had been brainwashed by Communists so he would, whenever anyone mentioned the name of the mind-controlled assassin Raymond Shaw, always say “Raymond Shaw is the kindest, bravest, warmest, most wonderful human being I’ve ever met in my life.”
