Day 2 of the search for a new fiat mine. Pacing myself, trying to apply to 5 job postings a day and take one other action toward the goal of changing my place of employment. Yd, this was emailing a recruiter that had reached out recently. Today it was completing a profile on a recruiting site - Dice.

I suppose this is where one might ask - why aren't you starting your own business? Why aren't you an entrepreneur?

I don't believe everyone is an entrepreneur. I've had my own business, or at least enough of my own that I learned it wasn't really for me. I may alwsys have some side hobbies that could make a few sats, but no, I don't want to build anything into a company. I don't have any big ideas, or a dream that would disrupt an industry. I don't know that I could do anything better than the next guy.

So no. Not going that route. I'm not wealthy enough to invest in someone else's business either, at least not on the scale where I could expect a meaningful return. I still need to have a regular income.

Right now, I also need the benefits of working for the man. I'm obligated to provide medical insurance for my son for the next couple years. That could get expensive without having an employer-funded plan. Having been self-employed before, I went years without having a medical plan (this was before it was mandated in the US.)

So yes, looking for the next fiat mine. I don't care that much about a lot of the details. I'm not worried about staying there a long time. I don't need to make big advances in my career trajectory, although I wouldn't mind. Just working with some new people that might value my contributions and incentivize good results would be enough.

15 years at the current fiat mine is enough. Time to move on.
