In the book "You are what you watch," author Walt Hickey discusses the guidance offered by a group of scientists working on a message to warn people away from a nuclear dump site (the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant). The message needs to be understood 10k years from now (the life of the nuclear waste). Hickey suggests that with a few tweaks, that same guidance can be a blueprint for what makes enduring, veloved, excellent cultural works.
