On social media I sometimes see progressive women complaining that we men should stop tolerating racism, sexism and homophobia among our friends.
Which is true as far as it goes. But, women don't seem to understand all the nuances of friendship among men.
Specifically, we have different kinds of relationships that all get called "friend".
The best are true friends, always rare. We can and do badger this kind of friends about their bad attitudes/behavior and they won't stop loving us.
