From my home right now, within a 15 minute radius, are several markets, several supermarkets, a bewildering variety of small shops and restaurants, two primary schools, three middle schools, even five or so college-to-university grade facilities.

For things not in 15 minutes' range there's EXTENSIVE public transit.

Even people who own cars don't drive them much.
