I first met Ross Anderson almost exactly 30 years ago, at the Cambridge Protocols Workshop. At the time, the security lab there was headed by Roger Needham, another giant in the field. Ross was a prolific author, and apart from his technical insights was one of the early computer scientists to get involved in policy issues. He was one of my co-authors on my most recent tech (really, tech+policy) papers. I didn't always agree with Ross, but there's no denying his brilliance. He'll be missed.
