I’m not a huge fan of Musk right now but this is a bullshit way of comparing things. SpaceX, Tesla, etc are corporations bidding for government contracts against other corporations. They probably do it internationally too. They have clearly been successful, and also delivering on objectives set out by these deals. Elon doesn’t receive this money, companies he is the CEO / shareholder of do, and that money is tied to budgets, conditions, deliverables, etc. Are they profitable? Yep. Do they come with risk, headaches and massive responsibilities? Hell yes.
Now, should we tell people receiving social security to help land rockets on boats or engineer massive energy infrastructure? This is ridiculous.
I’m glad people are pushing back against Musk and DOGE to a certain degree- they shouldn’t operate without criticism and eyes on them. But damn, these morons need to come up with some better arguments. The Department of Education has made people dumb, but not that dumb 😘.
