npub1c5cejn3aa8l9lkye9vflejad6gwgw59wk3hmzsxdhh36mh807wcqdd644a (npub1c5c…644a) To properly erase a Mac's internal drive:

1. Boot into Recovery Mode
2. Run the Disk Utility from the menu bar
3. Select the drive and click on the Erase button.
4. Look for the “Security Options…” button; if you don't see it, you aren't in recovery mode.
5. Select how secure you want (i.e., how long you want to wait)
6. Clock OK
7. Click Erase

You can practice on a USB stick if you want; secure erasing an external disk does not require Recovery Mode. But if you are booted on the drive, the Disk Utility will not show the “Security Options…” button.

Am told Linus has all his Macs running Linux, including M2. But I'm lazy.
